Using a domestic toaster, we melt waste plastic to create a solid board that is visually intriguing and ready to be transformed into something new, something beautiful, something useful. Something original. Something Toasted.
INTRODUCING THE MACHINE
When the domestic toaster became too small, the founders of Toasted, Nina, and Nuša, persisted in experimenting. They learned, made mistakes, and improved. In 2013, they constructed the first device for making toasted plastic.
A decade later, it was retired, paving the way for a new, upgraded, and more powerful Machine that enables us to produce more material, a wider variety of products, and venture into even bolder experimentation. As a result, we can now offer you an even greater selection of original products made from toasted plastic.
MATERIAL = TOASTED PLASTIC
Toasted products are crafted from 100% recycled plastic, using only one type of plastic, and without any additives. This approach ensures that Toasted products can be recycled once more!
The majority of the waste plastic melted in the Machine comes from waste processors, while some is recycled by us. With enthusiasm, we collect waste packaging from friends and acquaintances, using it to create special patterns in the material. The nature of plastic board manufacturing results in each board being slightly different and unique, adorned with small irregularities that give the material character and guarantee originality.
Toasted plastic is robust, durable, and 100% resistant to water and dirt.
PRODUCT DESIGN
The creation of each product starts with designing patterns and the graphic appearance of the boards. Our goal is to maximize the potential of the material and leverage its properties.
The product shapes harmonize with the patterns and colours in the material, giving rise to distinctive Toasted products that are both simple and functional. By overseeing the entire design process, we have ample space for experimentation, trying various techniques, patterns, and shapes, all while continuously enhancing the manufacturing process. This is precisely why Toasted never fails to amaze you.
All Toasted products are meticulously handcrafted in our workshop in Ljubljana.
